Brikka
Brikka for 2 people
What you need:
- Moka Pot (in this case Brikka Bialetti)
- Kettle
- Digital Scale
- Grinder (if you have whole beans)
- Stove top
- 17g of good coffee
Step 1
Pour room temperature water in the top side of the Brikka until the level marked inside the recipient.
Step 2
Pour the water into the bottom chamber of the Brikka.
Step 3
Grind 17g of coffee (best) or take the same amount of pre-ground coffee from your bag. The beans should be ground at a medium level.
Step 4
Place the Brikka’s filter basket into the bottom compartment and fill it with the ground coffee. Level it with your fingers.
Step 5
Screw the Brikka’s top on the bottom part.
Step 6
Place the Brikka on a stove top set to medium heat.
Step 7
When the water in the bottom part of the pot approaches to a boil, the pressure will push the coffee through the upper chamber. Here is when the Brikka will perform differently than a regular moka pot. The Brikka has a pressure valve on the exit of the upper funnel that holds the coffee until it has more pressure and, thus, produces the crema.
You will notice the first stream of coffee coming out of the valve. That’s the sign that the pressure is growing and the ”espresso” is about to flow. Stay alert because you will have to turn off the heat as soon as the coffee start to come out.
What you get
The Brikka makes an espresso like drink. It produces a richer crema and it’s a stronger coffee compared to the one made with the moka pot / makineta. Make it to perfection with a good coffee and you will have a great drink to start your day with.
